Why is L-Ascorbic Acid USP (Vitamin C) used in VivierSkin® Serums?

Vivier Pharma uses only L-Ascorbic Acid as this is the only form of Vitamin C that can be recognized and used by the body. As for USP, it stands for United States Pharmacopeia. It is a pharmaceutical standard recognized for quality, purity, strength and consistency.

Other derivatives of Vitamin C, such as, ascorbyl palmitate and magnesium ascrorbyl phosphate have to be converted in to L-Ascorbic Acid before being able to get absorbed by the skin. However, the amount converted could be too low for the skin to take an effect.

What are the benefits of Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) used in VivierSkin® Vitamin C Serums?

L-Ascorbic Acid has impressive anti-aging benefits. Following are some of the benefits:

  • Protects the skin and helps prevent wrinkles by quenching free radicals from UV rays, smoke and pollution
  • Helps repair skin damage through the restoration of collagen production in the skin
  • Improves skin texture and increase tautness of the skin
  • Improves uneven skin tone, lighten mottled pigmentation and aged spots
  • Decrease inflammation caused by acne, rosacea and aesthetic procedures
  • Give the skin a healthy, more youthful glow

I am already using VivierSkin® Serum 10, can I use them for my eye area too?

The skin around our eye area is very delicate, we do not recommend the other serums as they may be too rich. We recommend the use of Serum 5 only as it is specially designed with 5% L-Ascorbic Acid USP for the delicate eye area.

I have sensitive skin, can I use VivierSkin® Vitamin C serums?

Users with sensitive skin may use Serum 5 on the face, neck and back of the hands, and build a tolerance to other VivierSkin® Vitamin C serums.

This is the first time I am using Vitamin C based serums, which product should I use?

We usually recommend users to start with a lower concentration and slowly build a tolerance to higher concentration. We recommend the use of Serum 10 as a start and followed by Serum 20 or other serums when the skin is used to Vitamin C products.

Is it still effective if my serum changes colour before expiry?

VivierSkin® serum originally has a tint of pale yellow. It is normal that the yellow darkens slightly due to the temperature and humidity. However, if the serum turns dark brown or black, it is no long effective as it has been totally oxidized.

Should I keep my serums in the fridge?

There is no need to keep VivierSkin® Vitamin C serums in the fridge. For best results, store at room temperature (15-30°C / 59-86°F).

Can I use VivierSkin® serums if I have oily skin?

Yes, you can use VivierSkin® serums as the serums they are oil free and non-comedogenic. We recommend you to use Serum 10 as it is not too rich for the skin and ideal for oily skin users.

VivierSkin® serums feels oily, is it oil based?

VivierSkin® serums are water based and oil free. The velvety feel upon application is due to the encapsulation of Glycol around the Vitamin C molecules.

I am pregnant, can I use VivierSkin® serums?

VivierSkin® serums do not contain Vitamin A, however it would be unethical for the products to be tested on pregnant or lactating women. Consult with your physician before using VivierSkin® serums while pregnant or lactating.
